There isn’t a sport that Henry hasn’t played, from football and volleyball to triathlons and ironmans, he’s done it all. But he quickly learned that to gain an edge on the field, there would have to be even more commitment, off the field. So Henry started hitting the gym and that’s when he found functional fitness. In 2014, Henry qualified for the Latin American CrossFit Regionals and again in 2015 as part of Team Aggressive.
After college football, training became Henry’s new passion, as he found himself fascinated with the ability to establish a physical training program with predictable results. Because he truly loves program design, Henry’s ideal client is passionate about what he does, wants to get after it every day, and is excited about the process, whatever his goal may be. Together, Henry and his clients identify weaknesses and relentlessly getting after them.

Time is by far life’s most precious resources. I sought out Big Dawgs in the hopes of maximizing that time; to squeeze every ounce of progression out of training. My time with Henry has been so much more than that. From not just what you eat but how you eat it, to stress management, sleep, hydration and recovery, Big Dawgs has taught me how progress inside and outside of the gym. It’s really a lifestyle and the gains I have made speak for themselves.
Working with Henry has taught me more than I could have imagined—not just about what goes on inside the gym, but outside as well—he coaches the whole person. His coaching before, during, and after my pregnancy has put me in the best place I could now be physically and he has taught me so much in becoming a coach myself. He truly cares about you as a person—not just about PRs or a time on a workout—although I’ve hit numbers and achieved skills I never thought I would since beginning with him. Individualized design was the best choice I have made in terms of my fitness and lifestyle and I’ve been so grateful to have him as my coach.

I sought him out because I wanted to reach my full athletic potential. I was quick to find out that following a training program was the easiest part, but there were more important factors that would affect progress such as daily habits, priorities, and lifestyle. The result? Im a happier, more balanced human being with TONS of energy for everyday life. Henry not only writes a program, but he also provides support in all other areas which includes sharing information as to what he’s up to as far as reading, podcasts, and courses. In short, this has been a truly unique experience.
As my time as a college hockey and baseball player began to wind down, I viewed competitive fitness as the natural evolution for me as an athlete. After looking into countless coaching options and having many conversations with knowledgeable athletes and coaches, it was clear that Henry is world class in every aspect of his coaching and mentorship. Despite the miles that separate Puerto Rico from Pittsburgh, the relationship we have built over the last year is incredibly strong—a testament to his dedication to understanding me as an athlete and consistently delivering on his promise to fuel my growth. My assessment phase consisting of a wide variety of testers provided Henry insight into my strengths and weaknesses, and every week since has been devoted to maintaining the former and improving upon the latter. His intricate program design, nutritional knowledge, consistent responsiveness, desire to fully understand his athletes, and regular re-evaluation of his own methods and practices professionalizes the coach-athlete relationship and makes him one of the best coaches in the industry. In 8 months, Henry helped an athlete with a 145# snatch and 3 unbroken ring muscle ups turn into an athlete who finished top-300 in the region in the 2018 Open.
